AAF-Louisville’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee invites you to join Maxine F. Brown on Thursday November 30 as she speaks on diversity within our community! Registration and Networking will begin at 5:30pm, with the program starting at 6pm. 4th St Live’s Birracibo Restaurant is hosting the event and there will be free parking to those who attend in the "LIVE" garage at 425 S. 5th St.

Maxine F. Brown founded NETWORK (New Energy to Work Out Racial Kinks), a monthly public educational forum that encourages cross racial dialogue, in 1990. NETWORK has functioned successfully for many years and was replicated at U of L, IUS, and in Lexington.

Brown is a native of Corydon, Indiana, where 30 years ago, she purchased and rehabilitated an historic 1891 schoolhouse that educated African Americans students until it was closed in 1950, as a segregated school. She adapted the school for reuse as a cultural/educational center and renamed the school to honor her Aunt Leora Brown, who taught at the school longer than any other teacher. NETWORK is now a project of the Leora Brown School, Inc. Brown started as a program officer with the Lilly Endowment in Indianapolis. After relocating back to this region, she reorganized the old Louisville Foundation, organized the Kentucky Foundation for Women, and served as president of the Fund for Women, Inc. Brown has served on many boards and was awarded the Eli Lilly Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indiana Historical Society in 2011.
