AMERICAN ADVERTISING FEDERATION – LOUISVILLE ANNOUNCES 2023 AMERICAN ADVERTISING AWARD WINNERS
Mar 6, 2023
On Thursday, March 2nd The American Advertising Federation – Louisville (AAF – Louisville) hosted its premier creative competition, the American Advertising Awards. For the 49th consecutive year, this awards ceremony has recognized outstanding local creative work in the areas of advertising and marketing. This year’s event was titled Battle of the B®ands and featured a rock-n-roll/music themed awards show hosted at Play Louisville. At the event, 65 coveted ADDY awards were presented to 14 local companies, agencies, students, and schools. Over 200 industry pros attended this year’s awards presentation.
“Louisville’s advertising community always shows out when it comes to celebrating the incredible talent of our local creatives, and this year was no exception,” said Allison Deely, Executive Director for AAF-Louisville. “The last few years we have intentionally stretched the limits of what our awards program can be, leaning into fun themes that are exciting and new each year. Our Battle of the B®ands event not only showcased the amazing work of our local creatives, but celebrated an industry that brings so much to our community in terms of art, innovation, and economic growth.”
The ADDYs are awarded in two categories, Gold and Silver. There are also special categories including Best of Show, Judge’s Choice Awards, and The People’s Choice Award which is determined by attendees on the night of the gala. AAF – Louisville also presents Local Only Awards including, “Culturally Legit” – which recognizes local advertising creative that authentically represents diversity in culture. This year AAF-Louisville also invited members to participate in an album artwork contest, pairing a band name with a local Louisville concept (ex: Ok Go Baby Go, or Panic! at the Disco Ball Factory). The winning entry came from Tim Rodono, with Vivid Impact for “Wee Bonnycastle”.
NIMBUS, inc. won this year’s top award, the “Best of Show”, for their work titled The Flavors of Two Cities Texas entered in the category of Branded Content & Entertainment Campaign.
“What sets a project like this apart is honestly the client,” said Stacey Wade, CEO of NIMBUS inc. “We’ve worked with Brown-Forman for 20 years. They trust us to develop concepts and work with people who represent the communities they serve – that’s what makes it so special.”
Winning an ADDY is the first step in the three-tiered American Advertising Awards process. The second step is the District 5 competition, with winners competing against other advertising clubs in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. District winners will be eligible to move to the third tier of the competition for a chance to be recognized on a national level.
