22 local companies and schools recognized at AAF – Louisville’s premier annual creative competition
Louisville, Ky. (February 23, 2018) – For the 44th consecutive year, Louisville advertising and marketing professionals gathered tonight to recognize the best in the business at the 2018 Inaugural ADDY Awards. Formerly named the Louie Awards, “The ADDYs” is the American Advertising Federation – Louisville’s premier creative competition. Hosted at the historic Henry Clay in downtown Louisville, twenty-two local companies, agencies, and schools received awards in recognition of their outstanding creative work in the areas of advertising and marketing.
This is the first year the event is being held under the new name The ADDY Awards, a change the organization made to ensure the local award name was consistent with the district and national level awards. The ADDYs are awarded in two categories – Gold and Silver. There are also special categories including The People’s Choice Award which is determined on the night of the gala. Winning an ADDY is the first step in the three-tiered American Advertising Awards process. The second step is the District 5 competition, with winners competing against other advertising clubs in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. District winners will be eligible to move to the third tier of the competition for a chance to be recognized on a national level.
“The ADDYs provide talented local advertisers an opportunity to showcase their best work, and Louisville continues to raise the bar each year,” said Lauren Beckley, Executive Director of AAF-Louisville. “This is my first year helping with this event and I have been blown away with the ground-breaking, innovative, and top-notch entries.”
Judging for the ADDYs is a two-step process. The digital portion of the competition was judged remotely, and the remaining entries were judged in-person at The Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville. This year’s judges included: Dale Addy, DNA Creative, Trish Loftis, Catapult Marketing, Matt Georgi, CVR, Japhia Olson, Mint Design, Shannon Carrus, Who is Carrus, Jon Leon, HDZG, and Karl Bastian, PB&J.
