JOB DESCRIPTION

Art Director for Pizza Today magazine: Pizza Today is a 35-year-old, award-winning magazine for pizza restaurant entrepreneurs. The Art Director position is responsible for the design and production of a wide variety of print, online, social media and video communications and marketing materials to support Pizza Today magazine and our sister tradeshows, International Pizza Expo and Pizza & Pasta Northeast. This position is important for the growth and future of the Pizza Today brand and supporting brands. The magazine produces 12 issues annually, plus necessary ancillary marketing materials and tradeshow-related guides, brochures, etc. In addition, the Art Director must be proficient in photography and video production as well as graphic design and typography.

Essential Functions/Job Duties:
Complete layout design of Pizza Today magazine in print. That consists of features/departments, cover, as well as ads and other print elements.
Implement brand identity, style guide and templates for the magazine.
Take high-level photography in both live and studio settings.
Film, edit and produce captivating video.
Support the Creative Director as needed with related collateral and publications.
This position also includes image selection and editing, managing tasks, as well as working closely with the editorial and production departments in order to execute and conceptualize the Pizza Today brand via graphic design.

Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Advanced photography skills
• Advanced video production skills
• Familiar with Mac OS
• Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
• Able to take direction and ownership of various projects
• Keen attention to detail and the proven ability to juggle multiple priorities, plan ahead, anticipate and solve potential problems.
• Must work well in a deadline-driven environment

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field
5+ years of design and photography experience — print magazine publishing highly preferred
