JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY:- Responsible for developing and executing strategies to highlight Louisville Water’s story to internal and external audiences.
- Responsible for implementing a content marketing strategy that includes website and social media channels, internal communications, media relations, customer communications brand building and marketing campaigns.
- Responsible for developing communication plans for company initiatives.
- Assists in developing and implementing Louisville Water’s branding and marketing program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Content Marketing
- Responsible for a team that is focused on content marketing. – This includes developing an editorial calendar, writing and publishing content to Company’s website and social media channels; working with traditional and non-traditional media; overseeing the development of assets (video, animation, infographics) to support the content; and, developing and monitoring metrics for content marketing.
- Direct staff that is responsible for monitoring all social media channels for comments regarding Louisville Water and its associated brands, responding appropriately and working with customers to ensure a resolution.
- Identify media opportunities for Louisville Water and its associated brands, write media stories, coordinate media events. Provide back-up support to the Vice President of Communications and Marketing for media relations and crisis communications.
- Responsible for directing, internal communications through the Company’s intranet and publications targeted to employees and retirees. Assists in the creation and implementation of the Company’s internal communication plan.
- Leads teams that can include staff and outside resources to design and implement communication plans for large-scale initiatives and events.
- Responsible for a team that is focused on content marketing. – This includes developing an editorial calendar, writing and publishing content to Company’s website and social media channels; working with traditional and non-traditional media; overseeing the development of assets (video, animation, infographics) to support the content; and, developing and monitoring metrics for content marketing.
- Brand Building and Management
- Responsible for directing the marketing plan for the Louisville pure tap® program – Louisville Water’s public-facing marketing campaign; direct the development and delivery of branding, media relations, social media and content associated with the pure tap program.
- Member of Louisville Water’s brand management team that identifies, develops and implements efforts that highlight Louisville Water’s value to the community. This can include partnership campaigns, paid advertising, stakeholder initiatives, etc. for Louisville Water and its associated brands
- Responsible for directing marketing efforts for Louisville Water Tower Park and the WaterWorks Museum.
- Responsible for directing the marketing plan for the Louisville pure tap® program – Louisville Water’s public-facing marketing campaign; direct the development and delivery of branding, media relations, social media and content associated with the pure tap program.
- Other Essential Functions
- Responsible for managing the communication and marketing yearly budget.
- Responsible for meeting process goals; developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and productivity measurement systems; and developing and implementing process improvements that meet Louisville Water’s strategic business objectives and provide high level of customer satisfaction for internal and external customer needs.
- A member of Louisville Water’s Business Management Council that works to execute tactics in the Company’s Strategic Business Plan
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Responsible for managing the communication and marketing yearly budget.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- This position may manage non-exempt and exempt employees and is also responsible for the performance management of employees within the department.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Generally, works a 40-hour week in an office environment, requires 24 hour/7 day on-call availability; frequent travel between various company locations and work sites; frequent outdoor activity; and frequent attendance at functions/events after normal working hours. Office work is mostly sedentary, but site visits may require extensive walking and/or standing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or related field.
- Seven (7) years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, social media management, media relations, brand management or related area.
- Three (3) years of experience managing staff and directing performance management.
- Valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Water or other utility experience.
- Experience with public speaking.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledgeable/understanding of best-practices in communications and media relations.
- Knowledgeable of content marketing strategies.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Proficient knowledge of social media management.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including the ability to make presentations and communicate with various external and internal customers using a variety of communication tools.
- Excellent organizational skills to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to react to change quickly and productively.
- Work requires continual attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to establish priorities, and ability to multi-task.
