The Creative Director (CD) helps lead creative strategy, design, and execution of award-winning work for agency clients with a focus on UI/UX and digital product design.



The Creative Director (CD) helps lead creative strategy, design, and execution of award-winning work for agency clients with a focus on UI/UX and digital product design. The CD is an aspiring leader, a creative mind, and a project manager all in one, and will partner closely with key team members across all departments. This role functions as a one of the creative leads to establish a vision for the work, with a focus on digital design. The CD helps plan design strategy, helps lead the creative design process, and gives guidance to the creative team members who work with them. They also “do the work,” meaning this role must understand the clients’ business or organization and be able to design creatively and clearly with a focus on both UI and UX design for web and digital platforms but will also design, or provide input on print, outdoor, video, email, direct mail, and other mediums.

The CD will be responsible, with the rest of the creative team, for relentlessly elevating the creative quality of all work that the agency produces all while you mentor, help manage, and help motivate the design and broader creative group. At a high level, the CD works at the nexus that exists between the design team, the creative team, the accounts team, the marketing team, and the client, with the goal always being to provide the best creative solutions for our clients, all while defending the agency’s position on those solutions. Most importantly, the CD must share the agency's commitment to our mission and values along with helping to build a diverse and inclusive team, so that we represent all those who our work touches.

What you will do
  • Participates in the client discovery process
  • Concepting, strategy, designing, and problem solving
  • Selling an idea both internally and externally
  • Works closely with our Brand, Development, Research, and Analytics teams to deliver insight-driven, data-tested solutions
  • Has a working knowledge of current UI and UX trends and leads team in creating best-in-class site maps, wireframes, user journeys, and websites
  • Fluent in design best practices, especially for all web platforms (mobile, tablet, desktop)
  • Develop UI components and style guides
  • Provides quality control at all levels on projects and exercises day-to-day leadership and mentoring to foster individual and team creativity and imagination
  • Helps evaluate design concepts, UX, art-direction, and design, and provides direction where needed
  • Is accountable, with the broader creative team, for the quality and integrity of Mightily’s creative and is responsible, with other creative leads, for defending and communicating Mightily’s creative values and philosophy internally
  • Is responsible, along with other members of creative leadership, for department morale, processes, and standards. Coordinates with other department leaders as necessary.
  • Assures creative services are in compliance with professional, company policy standards, and brand execution requirements
  • Helps to locate and develop external resources (vendors, staff, associations, etc.) in partnership with other members of Creative Leadership and Executive Leadership
  • Collaborates within the department and supervises ACDs, Designers, and Animators

What we are looking for
  • Bachelor's Degree in graphic design or related field
  • 7+ years demonstrated experience in collaborating with and leading Creative/UX team
  • Portfolio of work demonstrating breadth and depth of UX, UI, and visual design
  • Brand development experience a plus
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as independently
  • Proven ability to communicate design ideas through user flows, process flows, sitemaps and wireframes
  • A talent for creativity and problem-solving
  • Understanding of both traditional and digital platforms
  • Proficiency with software such as Adobe Creative Suite, web wireframing and design software, and project management software such as Workamajig and Basecamp
  • Strong technical understanding of design principles

What we provide
  • $75,000 - $85,000 annually
  • 37.5 hour work week
