JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing Manager manages the marketing functions for a department, including fundraising, contributions, donations, advertising, public relations, group sales, membership, and special events.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Examples of DutiesUNDER GENERAL DIRECTION
Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures
Interprets and renders decisions regarding regulations, policies and procedures
Evaluates and monitors programs for effectiveness and recommends modifications and improvements
Attends meetings and represents the department to the public to provide information and answer questions concerning programs, projects and activities
Manages the marketing and corporate sponsorship campaign functions for a department
Develops marketing and fundraising strategies to achieve funding goals for current and long-range plans
Conducts marketing studies and community assessment projects and directs studies for the development of operational methods and procedures
Designs marketing strategies for short and long-range plans to increase the visibility and viability of the organization
Solicits donations, contributions, support and participation from businesses, foundations, organizations, agencies and groups to promote and implement events and activities
Performs related work
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree – Advertising, Business Administration, Communications, Education, Marketing, Public Administration, Public Relations, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Four years of marketing, fundraising, public relations, or development experience, including two years of supervisory experience
EQUIVALENCY
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be on 24 hour call
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work

DESIRABLES
Management of Contract and Vendor relationships
Experience in development and implementation of strategic, business, master and collections plans
Ability to use the best and most current tools to further build the Zoo brand and the Zoo’s value proposition to maintain and build audience and advocacy
Ability to develop a variety of communication needs, including but not limited to: membership acquisition, renewal campaigns, fundraising campaign materials and messaging
