Job Summary/Description:

WAVE News in Louisville, Kentucky seeks a dynamic, engaging, and creative full-time weekend Meteorologist to join its highly regarded WAVE News Storm Tracking Team. If you are a fan of all seasons and the extremes that come with each of them, you'll love the challenge of forecasting in the heart of the Ohio Valley. The primary duties will include crafting, producing, and executing weather segments on our weekend broadcasts and across our digital and social media channels.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The chosen candidate will also cover other dayparts during vacations and time off for other meteorologists. This is not an entry-level position.
You will be working with a seasoned team in a highly competitive market utilizing processes unique to this team. From our fully loaded storm chase vehicle, 3D Augmented Reality graphics, an outdoor weather studio, a 24/7 streaming weather channel, an off-set office, and even a portable tornado simulator.
We're serious about the weather and you should be too! This is a full-time position; this person will work 3 days a week, covering all of our weekend newscasts.
Analyzing scientific data, models, and other available and relevant information to build an accurate weather forecast.
Accurately forecasting and tracking severe weather.
Design aptitude and creativity to produce unique weather graphics.
Ability to communicate with the news staff to assist in editorial decision-making.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or related field.
At least 3 years of on-air experience as a broadcast meteorologist.
Being proficient with the MAX ecosystem and familiar with augmented reality.
Demonstrate strong digital and social content skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Scheduling flexibility.
AMS/NWA Seal(s) preferred.
