JOB DESCRIPTION

Indiana University Southeast, the premier four-year institution in the region, seeks a Multimedia Videographer/Photographer. This position supports the effective use of multimedia technologies, especially photography, video, audio and streaming media for the purpose of marketing Indiana University Southeast. The Multimedia Videographer/Photographer reports to the Senior Multimedia Designer. This position produces, directs, shoots and edits projects as approved by the director. Works closely with marketing staff and the campus web and advancement teams in creation of interactive media. Depending on the project, makes artistic, technical and management decisions as necessary, including subject research, script writing, visual design, location lighting and photographic choices, selection of narration, music, editorial decisions and other production concerns. Manages logistic, and business management details of media production services. Incorporates ADA accessibility compliance into all video production. The person in this position must have the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people including administration, faculty, colleagues, staff, students, and individuals from outside of the university such as community members and vendors. This position directly impacts the missions of the campus in relation to student recruitment and retention, community engagement, and faculty/staff communication and empowerment through video and other multimedia.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, multimedia journalism, or a related field or equivalent with coursework in videography, television, and film.

Minimum Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in media field, recent relevant experience using modern, contemporary multimedia technologies and systems, and some leadership experience required. At least two of the following areas required: video production, photography, video editing, photo editing, producing, directing, or managing media productions.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Expert knowledge of video and photographic production techniques and equipment, including digital video camera, digital audio cameras, audio recording equipment, lighting, and other production related equipment. Professional expertise in the use of digital video/audio and photo software, primarily the Adobe suite of media creation and production products, and other software as needed and required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be process oriented, deadline driven and work well in a team environment. Availability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends as needed is required.

The successful candidate must possess excellent project management skills, including the ability to work under deadlines. They must have highly developed communication skills, successfully demonstrated in effectively working with a wide variety of people in both individual and group settings with professionalism and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.

Equipment utilized:
Current video production equipment, including video cameras, digital camera and lenses, microphones, lighting equipment, streaming encoders, and tripods. Editing, transfer and duplication equipment, such as computer hard drives, CD/DVD duplicators, analog to digital converters, and cables and connectors.

Must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of the position without hazard to themselves or others: sitting or standing for extended periods of time; bending, kneeling and climbing ladders; must possess dexterity of hands and fingers to operate media technology; must be able to discern resolution and color correctness for TV and computer monitors; must hear and speak at normal levels to communicate with others and to evaluate audio quality. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and move bulky equipment between buildings.

Salary - Up to $46,000 yr.
