Job Summary/Description:
WAVE, the NBC affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky, has an immediate opening for a Weekend Anchor/Reporter. In addition to anchoring the highly-rated weekend morning newscasts, this position also reports three weekdays. We are looking for a dynamic, high-level storyteller who delivers every day. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent news judgment, be a selfstarter, excellent and clear communicator, and a team players.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop sources within the community and report on timely, important, and impactful issues.
  • Produce and deliver day-turns three weekdays, as well as special event coverage. Our anchors are expected to write and contribute daily to newscasts.
  • Write and post daily on all digital platforms as new information is learned. This includes, social media, our news app, OTT, and within our television newscasts.

  • BA degree in broadcasting or equivalent work experience
  • Expert-level ad-libbing skills
  • Excellent shooting, writing, and editing skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong broadcast and AP-style writing skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
  • Strong work ethic, organizational and leadership skills. Must be able to work quickly, make deadlines, multi-task, and show composure, especially during breaking news.
