JOB DESCRIPTION

ABOUT GRAY TELEVISION: Gray Television supports local community interests by providing quality television broadcasting and exceptional service in each market we serve. Gray owns and/or operates television stations and leading digital properties in 93 television markets including the first or second highest rated television station in 85 markets. ABOUT WAVE: WAVE 3 News has served 19 Kentucky and 10 Indiana counties for the past 71 years. In the past five years, WAVE 3 News has won two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for Overall Excellence (including one this year) and dozens of regional Emmy awards. WAVE 3 News offers News, Weather, and Derby City Weekend APPS, several OTT and social channels, daily newscasts from 4:30a-7a, 11a-12:30p, 3-4p, 5-6:30p, 7-8p, 11-11:35p, and nine hours of news each weekend, as well as an additional 26 hours of live, local coverage annually during Kentucky Derby week. WAVE 3 News actively works to build a better community, developing special programs and engaging with several organizations. The Louisville market is the nation's 48th largest and is home to UPS, GE, Ford, Humana, Churchill Downs, KFC, Papa John's, and Texas Roadhouse, plus world class arts and entertainment.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruit, coach, train and mentor.
Develop and execute strategic goals and plans and compelling content coverage for multiple platforms.
Execute the brand and grow audience on all platforms.
Communicate closely with all team members and the community.
Commitment to teamwork, empowerment, and open and honest, servant leadership.
Plan and execute "big event' coverage.
Prepare and hit budgets, meet deadlines.
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and all inquiries and correspondence from the public regarding news matters.
Well versed with the latest technological advancements in news gathering and production, libel and privacy laws, journalistic ethics, and maintaining professional guidelines and standards of news broadcasts.
REQUIREMENTS: Servant leader, veteran TV and Digital newsroom manager.
Effective verbal and written communicator.
Integrity, creativity, passion, compassion, positive energy, active listener, engaging personality.
Time management skills, can-do attitude, strong work ethic.
