JOB DESCRIPTION:
Bellarmine University's Department of Marketing and Communications welcomes all qualified applicants to apply for the newly created full-time position of Photography and Videography Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Media Relations and Social Networking, the candidate will work in collaboration with key personnel across the university to produce photo and video content that supports the university's Strategic Marketing and Communication Plan. The Photography and Videography Specialist will tell visual stories about the university's academic and student life by shooting, editing and uploading photo and video content to websites and social media platforms for consumption by primarily external audiences. The person in this position will produce content which will appear on the university's website, print and digital publications, social media accounts and enrollment marketing platforms. The key areas of focus will include Academic Affairs, Enrollment Marketing, Alumni and Development, Athletics, and the Office of the President.
The essential duties of the candidate will be to define and implement a unique style that will be identifiable across the university's photo and video content. The candidate will create and edit videos and photos using industry standard software and be able conceive and execute original story ideas which will support the university's enrollment and marketing goals. Industry and competitor trends and best practices will used to develop innovative new content ideas and strategies. The candidate will work with their colleagues to ensure work is planned and thought out in order to meet multiple needs. They must be able to attend meetings and events to obtain content for publications so some evening and/or weekend work will be required in order to get such content. The candidate will maintain, transport and set up all photography, video, audio and lighting equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, art, film production or a related field. Will have more than two years of experience shooting, directing and editing video and photo content in a creative environment. Will posses an innate understanding of digital video trends, formats and best practices, including HD+4K acquisition and storage. The candidate will be proficient using specialized software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro as well as proficiency using photo, video, audio and lighting equipment for optimal image composition and sound acquisition. It is preferred that the candidate have experience using and operating drone-mounted cameras and producing live digital video broadcasts for social media platforms.
