JOB SUMMARY

WHAS11, the ABC affiliate in Louisville, has an excellent opportunity for a talented Senior Producer.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced and energetic Senior Producer to join our newsroom. If you are an experienced producer that wants to get on the track to becoming an Executive Producer this position is for you.

What we need:

An individual who can turn a newscast into a show. Find key moments to "produce up" in the show and really make them stand out.
Be the first set of eyes on the show before the Executive Producer. The Senior Producer is looking for story selection, flow, moments for the cast members to interact, conversational writing in scripts, scripts that offer context and depth, help lead coverage during breaking news, etc.
Must have an overall knowledge of social media and the use of multiple platforms in putting together coverage plans.
An organized and excellent planner. Must be good at working with a team of producers, MSJ's, photojournalists, social discovery editors, video editors, and engineers all with a great attitude.
Communication skills are a necessary part of this job.
Line producing, graphic development and creative writing are mandatory skills
Possessing strong news judgment.
Editing is required.
Working side-by-side with the Executive Producer on the track to becoming an EP themselves.

What you need:

College degree with minimum two years' news producing experience preferred.
Must possess solid news judgment, display strong communication and creativity, and decision-making skills.
Excellent writing skills.
ENPS, Axis graphics, XDnews, and Vertigo experience is preferred.
Must be organized with the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
Must be able to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
Must be willing to work any shift.
